Nearly 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, bringing strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Damage

Locals reported substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of seven centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both states.
