It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
