Unidentified Rosy Ooze on Secluded Tasmanian Beach Spurs Concerns of Likely Algal Bloom

Agencies in the island state are working to identify a magenta ooze that has appeared on a isolated coast, with some scientists anxious it could be an algal bloom.

Broad Occurrence Along Beaches

The magenta-hued slime was found on a section of a southern bay about 37 miles south of the city. A comparable ooze has also been recorded on sections of Little Roaring Beach and Little Taylors Bay.
